Birthday Savings: How to Spend Less on Your Special Day

There’s nothing like receiving a nice little something-something on your birthday. Maybe it’s a card or a phone call from a friend or family member. It could even be a stack of free pancakes to start off your day right!

Yup, FREE PANCAKES. What better way to treat yourself than with free stuff? Well, it turns out a short stack isn’t the only free thing you can get on your birthday. In fact, there are lots of companies that offer you a free gift on your birthday. You just have to know where to look.

Free Food

If you know me, one of the quickest ways into my heart is through my stomach. A few places like IHOP know their clientele, and treat them accordingly. On your birthday, IHOP gives you a free short stack of pancakes for free. Need to fact check me? Here’s the proof.

IHOP is one of many companies that have started treating their customers in such a fashion. Other companies include Rita’s, where you can get a free Italian ice, Starbucks, where you can get a free coffee, and others.

Here are some of the deals I wish I took advantage of on my birthday.

  • Free stack of pancakes at IHOP
  • Free dessert at Chili’s
  • Free burger at Red Robin

Other Birthday Deals

While food is the big one, some companies still show they care through discounts. Petco allows you a free bag of treats for your pet. Ace Hardware gives you money off your purchase. Target gives you 5% off your purchase.

While some of these may seem small, planning some shopping and eating into your day can mean you have a nice day out for pennies on the dollar.

Here are some of the discounts I wish I took advantage of on my birthday:

While I’m not the first to write about this topic, I certainly won’t be the last. I was able to find a few websites that keep their information up to date and list out hundreds of birthday deals and discounts. Check out some of these websites that have done extensive research and listed everything out for you.

Local Birthday Freebies

While pretty much all of the companies I listed are can be found across the country, there are also plenty of local deals you can find for your special day.

For example, one of my local car washes give you a free car wash on your birthday. To me, this is the only noteworthy one that I’ve committed to memory, but other examples could be discounts at a local coffee shop, ice cream stand, or restaurant.

Final Thoughts

Your birthday is a time to celebrate. Luckily, plenty of companies also think so. Taking advantage of these discounts could help spruce up your special day with a few extra treats for yourself.

If you really want to save money, you can even take advantage of the retail stores and plan your shopping around your birthday. At that point, all of the things you would need anyways you can now get on a discount. It’s not a bad plan, but since I pretty much hate shopping, I will not be doing that on my birthday anytime soon.

  1. I always take advantage of free Starbucks coffee on my birthday. There’s a lot of untapped free or discounted stuff on bdays that I want to take advantage of.
